Art Nouveau
Art Nouveau swept across Europe at the turn of the twentieth century, drawing inspiration from natural forms, flowing organic lines, and ornamental excess. It was the first truly international design style, appearing in architecture, typography, jewellery, and poster art simultaneously. Its sinuous curves and floral motifs remain instantly recognisable.
- Flowing, organic, vine-like curves
- Botanical and natural motifs
- Asymmetric, dynamic compositions
- Rich decorative ornamentation
- Integration of text and image as one
